General remarks on closed tables | In the EHMMSA statistical database, there are already closed tables whose concepts have been changed or transformed by legislation during the years of data collection. Some categories have been eliminated and some services have been removed from the scope of postal services.
Prior to 1992, Magyar Posta was the only postal service provider and, as a national postal service provider, estimated the number of items not accounted for by weight. A multiplier was established on the basis of periodic sampling and used for the following period. In many cases, the number of pieces of the different consignments was not closely correlated. The lottery items were shown among the ordinary mail items and were determined by multiplication.
As a consequence of the 2003 Act CI of 2003 on Postal Services, which entered into force in 2004, several tables and indicators in this chapter were no longer filled in 2005, but new tables were created and the indicators in these tables cannot be produced retrospectively.
In addition, Act CLIX of 2012 on Postal Services (hereinafter: Postal Services Act), which entered into force in 2012, reorganised the categories of postal services and types of mail, which means that comparisons with the categories of services and types of mail under the previous legislation are only partially comparable. Therefore, a significant part of the pre-2013 tables based on concepts no longer in use have been closed.
This information may help in interpreting the archive and closed tables.
